CHILDREN AND MULTIVITAMINS

Do children need vitamin supplementation? Can they function well on the diets they are currently receiving?

Do your children eat a lot of junk food? Children being children are known to spend their pocket money on junk foods at the local shop or leave their lunch in their school bag. Local takeaway foods and junk foods are used more and more and the nutritious home cooked meal is left uneaten, the stomach already full with the chips or ice-creams that may have been eaten that afternoon after school. Eating from the five food groups each day is essential and a well balanced diet with wholegrains, fresh fruit and vegetables, dairy products, meats and/or protein substitutes such as nuts and lentils is important. We should ensure that our children are not eating an abundance of refined carbohydrates, sugar, fried foods, and food with artificial colourings and preservatives.

Exercise and a good night’s sleep is a must if we want our children to grow up strong, healthy and happy. If you find that your children don’t lead this lifestyle then a good multivitamin/ mineral formula should be considered.
